Methodology — where the numbers come from
Every figure in EOI Insights traces back to statistics the Australian government publishes about the SkillSelect EOI pool. This page explains where they come from, what is done to them, and where the limits sit — so you know exactly what you are quoting.
What this view measures
All figures originate from the Australian Government’s public SkillSelect EOI reporting. EOI Insights covers stream totals by month, visa and status; occupation totals; and finer breakdowns such as points, nominated state, submission month, English and study flags.
Nothing here is scraped from forums, agent newsletters or invitation-round announcements. If a number is in this product, it came from the published tables.
Reading the chart
No figure below 20 is ever published. In fine breakdowns most entries fall under that bar, so where a view needs them, the exactly-known hidden amount — the published total minus the visible part — is spread across the hidden entries in proportion to how many there are.
Estimated portions are always labelled, and totals always reconcile to the published numbers. What can never be recovered is the exact split inside the hidden part, so treat faint segments as indicative and quote the totals.
What the figure represents
Monthly totals are not monthly activity. Each published month is a snapshot of the pool, so it includes EOIs lodged long before, and a change between two months is a net result rather than a record of what happened.
SkillSelect occasionally revises earlier tables. EOI Insights follows the published release, so a historical point can move between visits, and the app records which months were revised.
In the dashboard
The in-product Methodology tab carries the live provenance table: which months are loaded, when each was updated, and which have been revised. This page is the stable explanation; that tab is the current record.
Daily lookup allowances apply so the service stays responsive. Free accounts get a smaller allowance than Pro; both are shown in the app rather than buried here.

For applicants
When you quote a number anywhere, quote the month and the subclass with it. Without those two labels the figure is not wrong so much as meaningless.
For migration professionals
Read this page before presenting anything from the product. Knowing which parts are published and which are reconstructed is what keeps a client briefing defensible.
Limits of this view
The published data contains no invitation rounds, no nomination decisions, no processing times, no refusals and nothing about individual applicants. No amount of analysis can recover information the source never contained.
Common questions
Is EOI Insights an official government source?
No. It analyses statistics the Department of Home Affairs publishes. For official information, use the Department’s own website.
Why did a historical number change?
SkillSelect sometimes republishes earlier tables. EOI Insights follows the published release rather than freezing the first version it saw.
Can I quote the estimated figures?
Quote the published totals, which are exact. Estimated portions inside a breakdown are labelled and should be described as estimates if you use them at all.
